Yeah, they probably won't get many new followers either since they have a "gate" that requires verification before new people are allowed to follow them. Twitter users don't like having an extra step to complete before they can follow someone (which is also a reason why private accounts don't attract many new followers either).

i agree. it made me search about it, which brought me here. thanks for this. i'm unfollowing the person who sent me that. the strange part is, they hardly have any followers but the follow a bunch of people. i kind of don't get what they think they are accomplishing. to make it worse, they are a business!

I believe that when you are following your passion, doors seem to magically open (be that money or other opportunities) that you would have never even thought possible before. Taking action and having faith in the process are my two biggest "tools" to being able to pursue my dream of traveling for 18 months starting out with 30 bucks in my pocket. Also being flexible and open minded, and willing do things others may not :)) Nice post!!! Keep living the dream....

I learned line dancing from YouTube and use it for new Zumba dances all the time! Such a great place to find information.

As a photographer I get similar media perks (well no free stuff yet), but it has got me into places I wouldn't have otherwise been able to go! For example I've covered several clinics and equine events that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford entry to. And I tell ya, theres no better VIP pass than to be able to waltz right into the arena ;-)

I think 2011 was the year of the scatterbrain. We weren't necessarily procrastinating, but just overwhelmed with the choices of how to spend our time. Here to keeping focus in 2012!

I was just having this conversation today. So many things I don't do because I expect to be perfect and I'm not. I over analyze and compare myself to people who may be further along than me and if I'm not as good as "I consider" them to be, then I don't even bother. This is not the attitude I want to continue.

Very often I'll think that everybody knows what I know. Well, my peers who are in my business do but not everyone does and when I procrastinate I miss so many opportunities to teach. Yep, Mandee, I hear ya!

I learned how to get over procrastination when I figured out if I don't do it now someone will do it later and then I'm going to be upset because I wasn't #1 or didn't even attempt. I don't want to become a Winklevoss and complain when I didn't even take action. Each month I set out goals in my life of what I would like to complete like each month I want to read two ebooks and two hardcover or paper back books. I have setup a blogging plan each month so I can understand what I need to do each month like for the month of January I'm only working on guest posts that will be coming out in February and in February I will be working on the sales copy and marketing of my ebook I'm releasing so each month has its own theme to say. It takes some time to get this stuff done but I do have my best friend that holds me accountable because I share my evernotes and Google calendar with him so we always bothers me every day to make sure that I get things done.

I enjoyed reading your post. I consider myself psychologically "Unemployable". This occurred a couple of years ago when I began realizing that I need to quit getting in people's faces about my opportunity and instead start giving value by sharing with them how to be successful in ANY business they were in. And I started providing this marketing and training strategies FREE.

I search for Twitter users who are mentioning topics within my niche or within a 45 mile radius of my location. For example, I search for the term "ride my horse" when looking for new people to follow from my @horsefamilymag account. It's proved to be a great way to meet people who are interested in what I offer.

Hi Mandee,
I'd have to agree...I know people use the Twitter validation service to get rid of spammers, but I hate it. I don't follow people that use one. I've actually had people follow me FIRST, then when I try and follow them back they want me go through the Twitter validation!

Hi Mandee,
There are literally hundreds of great plugins out there for Wordpress. In order to keep up, you would almost have to embed the WP plugin RSS feed :-)
That wouldn't help determine which ones were good or not, but if you add a plugin to rate each plugin feed post it would!
